Millennials have a reputation for being, well, difficult, as compared to their seniors and much conservative BOOMERS. While there are some things boomers handle differently, here is what I think happens when a millennial, turns into a mom! The changes they go through and the issues they face today!
LESS CELL PHONE
While everyone is glued to their phones we millennials love scrolling a bit too much but what happens when the phone is switched with a tiny human in your arms who is dependent on you for everything? At first, depressing but afterwards after the first month and when your pain of post delivery will pass, you will welcome mommy life with open arms.
MILK, BURP, POOP & SLEEP
You will find yourself preparing bottles for your baby, burping them, washing their poop and making them go to sleep for the next 4-5 months. You will feel horribly depressed and will miss your old carefree life, but this will pass, once the baby is 6 months or more, and starts eating solid food or when the baby starts being responsive you will LOVE your baby a lot.
NO TIME FOR YOURSELF
You may find that you have no time for yourself. The time you used to spend on yourself, like giving yourself facials or hair masks is all replaced by hurriedly going to the shower hoping the baby won’t wake up and running out as soon as you hear a cry. Moms sacrifice a lot. But keep in mind babies won’t be babies forever and once they are school going you will miss these moments.
YOU WANT TO SOCIALIZE WITH OTHER MOMS
New moms are not really interested in knowing what nonmoms are upto, they want to spend time with other moms so that they may share their baby stories.
YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA IS FULL OF YOUR BABY PICS AND VIDEOS
Your social media which once had your flawless pictures is now full of your baby’s adorable photos and videos and you can’t help yourself and want to make more of them!
LIFE WILL GET HARD
Your Netflix and chill time is replaced with nap time. You will be severely exhausted in the first weeks and feel insane. But as time pass, you will begin to appreciate the tiny being who looks at you with so much things
YOU WILL RESPECT YOUR MOM A LOT
Your mom went through a lot and put you before yourself, after being a mom yourself you will appreciate your mom more.
NIGHT DUTIES BECOME A ROUTINE
While some babies sleep for a few hours in night some don’t sleep at all and hence create an issue for their moms but slowly this night time routine will become normal, you will get used to staying up at night and snoozing during the day.
FAMILY CAREER BALANCE
If you are a working woman you might find yourself going crazy over trying to juggle work, life and kids. For the sake of comfort, it is better to put career on hold for sometime and consider alternative options like part time jobs or work from home work.
These are some of the things the typical millennial woman faces when mommyhood comes crashing down on her, but the love of her child eventually makes her a really good mom.
