It has already been launched in Israel, US and Europe. It has received funding from a lot of companies and organizations making it a highly successful startup. Singapore’s growthwell has also signed up with ChickP and both are planning to work together to develop more plant alternatives of meat.
Due to the current situation and high possibility of food shortage, innovation and tech is entering the food engineering industry at a really fast pace.
Heura, a plant based Barcelona start-up which makes meat alternatives from non GMO soybeans have also seen their production and growth skyrocketing. Food tech startups are highly demanded and a lot of companies and organizations are willing to fund them.
Chinese are also choosing to eat such alternatives over animals and dairy products, due to covid-19, chinese people want to eat healthy and clean food so the demand of food tech startups and companies is also very strong and growing in startups.
Necessity brings innovation and it’s highly beneficial for everyone if food tech companies bring good meat alternatives especially at a time when there is a major need for food and a possibility of a food shortage.
Pakistan is also no stranger to food shortage, every year hundreds of people die because of poverty and hunger. In Sindh especially Thar is criticised to be one of the major hit by poverty, where children die on a regular basis. Despite Pakistan being an agricultural country we suffer from a terrible shortage of food. Apart from Sindh, In Punjab cities like Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan are neglected and suffer from a lot of poverty. Balochistan is also terribly affected by this. The shortage is going to increase so it’s better to increase production of food or start looking for alternatives.
